The Circus is a perfect circle of symmetrical Georgian townhouses, designed by John Wood the Elder. Together, the Circus and the Crescent are said to represent the sun and moon, connected by a ley line. Look closely at the stonework to spot symbolic carvings – serpents, acorns, nautical motifs and more. Why not stand in the center and capture the view with the Fisheye No.2 or Fisheye Baby camera for a circular distortion that complements the scene? Photo by sophiebissell

The Royal Crescent was designed by John Wood the Younger and completed in 1775. The sweeping 500-foot arc of Georgian townhouses, built from Bath’s iconic golden stone, creates a stunning backdrop for architectural photography. You may recognise it from period dramas like Persuasion (2022), The Duchess (2008), or Bridgerton. Photo tip: shoot during golden hour for a warm light that enhances the natural color of the stone houses. Pick a wide-angle camera like the Lomo LC-Wide to capture the whole scene from the lawns in front. Photo by kelvin_wx
