Vulcan At Sunset

Pictures that I took on a trip last month to Birmingham Alabama. Birmingham was built in the center of the state at the crossing of two major railroads. The city is based on iron manufacturing, as it is one of the only places on earth where limestone, iron ore, and coal are all found in proximity. The city's mascot is the Roman god Vulcan, god of blacksmithing. There is a large statue of Vulcan raising his hammer over the city on a large ridge.
