Expand your Tribe: The Pure Joy in Meeting Like-Minded Strangers

The Seattle Lomo Adventure Club has been meeting for over the last several years, quietly hanging out sharing our experiences with our favorite cameras. Over this time we have had roughly the same group of six to eight people who show up sporadically to our scheduled meets. It has been fun... but quiet. Suddenly, for our November Meet we had a crazy influx of new people to our meet and the energy buzzing around was vibrant and electric. It felt as if our entire group had tripled in one night, and yet at the same time it felt like we were meeting dear old friends again.

    Analogue Girl About Town: Seattle

The dust had barely settled behind us at the California-Oregon border when our tire popped, leaving us stranded in a small Oregon city (if you can call it that) in the middle of the widest gray sky I’ve ever seen in my life while men with heavy country accents replaced all our tires. I thought it a bad omen and grumpily urged my boyfriend to drive us back to LA, already missing its sun and its big city conveniences.

Analogue Girl About Town: The Hardest Part of Traveling is Getting Back

When you’re traveling and engrossed in all that visual “porn” of new places you are about to discover, it’s very easy to forget about the real world. After all, all you really need to worry about are who to meet with, where to eat, and what next to see or experience.

The Smith Tower: The Cage at the Top of Seattle

The Smith Tower in Seattle hasn't been able to claim the title of "tallest skyscraper on the west coast" for 50 years, but this 38-storey neoclassical office tower is still worth a visit. Since the first 34 floors are private offices, and the top three floors are for private residence, your visit will include the lobby, the elevator, and The Chinese Room on the 35th floor.

    Downtown Seattle

Grunge music, perpetual rain, the foundation of today’s most popular coffee…step foot in downtown Seattle and you’ll find it all, whether it’s coming from the music of street performers, the freshly brewed aromas at Pike Place Market, or the feel of your sweatshirt hood pulled against your face. These are things commonly associated with Seattle, even for people who’ve never been there before. But what I got from visiting this city was more than what could be contained in any amount of cliches combined.

I can´t really say something about public market culture in the US, but I reckon it is everywhere different, hence the very 50 states all have a different history and flavor. I personally dig the coasts the most and therefore I was quite impressed by the fish market at the Pike Place Market.

Hi everyone! Herbasaurus, your US City Slicker from Seattle here. For this next lomo adventure, we journey to a city near my hometown. From Seattle, take a ferry over to Bremerton, then a short drive over to Silverdale. There you will find Gateway Skate Park a few minutes right off Highway 303. This small skate park, located next to a dog park, may seem small, however, is large enough for local skaters to practice and show off what they got.

Analogue Africa in Seattle: Malick Sidibé's Bamako

Until March 24th, M.I.A Gallery hosted an exhibition of photographs by Malian photographer and Hasselblad Award winner Malick Sidibé. The exhibition in Seattle consisted of over 30 photographs by Sidibé. As you can see, Sidibé’s work focusses mostly on black-and-white studies of popular culture in 1960s Bamako. It includes portraits both of people and of life so to speak, but the human element is always present in each picture.
