At one time they were touted as the next great revolution in photography, but high camera costs and high processing fees proved to be too prohibitive for most hobbyists, so they died a slow death. That's great for us though because that means you can get them cheaply, and with a bit of time and a bit of software, you can still get some pretty cool results.
