Brick Oven
Many years ago there was a brick works on the site and this structure is all that remains. When I was a child the whole site was the home of a huge TB hospital, in Victorian times people suffering from TB would be sent to take the air by the seaside to aid recovery. The hospital closed down many years, I think it was closed when I was a child even though it was still there, it became derelict and was eventually demolished to make way for the Botanic Gardens. Probably the bricks used to build the hospital where made on site.
