What kind of film camera should I use for portrait photography?

You can use any film camera for portraiture. 35 mm SLR cameras, medium format and large format cameras are popular choices. Film cameras with autofocus and higher shutter speeds are generally good for portraits.

Lenses also play a big role in taking good portraits. Prime lenses are suitable for portraits as they capture high quality photos with lots of detail. While 35 mm and 50 mm are also good choices for taking portraits, a focal length of 85 mm to 135 mm is often preferred for portraits especially for close-up shots.
