The Villa Yourcenar, built in the 1930s, stands at the same location as the Château Dufresne where Marguerite Cleenewerck de Crayencour, best known as Marguerite Yourcenar, spent her childhood. Le Mont Noir (the Black Hill named after the dense forest with black pine trees that was replanted and cover the area) and the castle were destroyed in WW1 as the front line ran through the hills for almost four years.
