Hello, I am the contest administrator from the Italian Institute of Photography. Thanks for submitting the photo to our "What does dreaming look like?" contest. To complete your participation in the contest, please write in the comments section here a description of why this photo represents or interprets dreaming. Best of luck!
My dreams are often a vision in slow motion. The ordinary rote day-to-day actions I take for granted are often slower, more vivid, beautiful and slightly frightening all at the same time. They are snippets of memories that are burned into my brain, but interpreted differently. I think this picture of the beautiful Corine blowing out her birthday candles reminds me of those dreams. In my dreams, I'm blowing out the birthday candles, but my group of friends cheering me on have suddenly morphed into one person, or the birthday candles explode when I blow them out. I move slowly through a world that is familiar in ways, but twisted and tweaked in others. I am fascinated by how my Holga creates photos that mimic my own dreamlike state.
