    ok now that I have read the article my comment seems crass, apologies. Also what is so great about this series besides that they are a wonderful artifact is that the thin sheet and the the mask seem so much about sort of this thin separation between worlds, it is a very 19th century notion about togetherness and loss. It is just special that it seems almost like a timeless series and that makes it even more potent.
