Our other friends at "Ilford":http://www.ilford.com/en/ have also decided to throw in some fresh 120 film to make the competition that much more enticing.

Diana Takes Diana+ to Egypt... an Interview and Gallery

Recently I was contacted by Diana Mulvihill, a photography student at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Diana was on her way to Egypt to do some work for a non-profit organization that helps children (and also wishes to remain anonymous for the purpose of this interview). Diana is trained as a documentary photographer and has worked for over a decade as a photojournalist. She had heard about her camera namesake, but had never shot with one. We thought it would be neat to see how the "Diana+":http://www.lomography.com/diana would hold up on a real photojournalism assignment, and hoped to capture some of the beauty and magic of this incredible destination. See Diana's Diana+ gallery below, and read an interview with this remarkable woman.

THE FUTURE IS DIGITAL? We don't think... The Great Analogue Photo Rumble - Participate Now

An earthquake-like shock shook our headquarters this week. While evaluating the grand analogue survey feedback we had to swallow the fact that the majority of Lomographers believe that - the future is digital. The shock! The Horror! We were ready to throw everything out of the window; cancel Photokina, abandon camera production and start producing microchips for digital air-conditioning systems. But alas! Just seconds before our fingers touched the “Off” switch we discovered the very same sample of people actually believe that the most essential things in life remain analogue! Life, love, fun, sex, beauty, creativity were voted by a huge percentage to be definitively analogue.“

    Spreading the Lomo Love

"About a year ago, some members of Lomomanila were invited to give lectures on Lomography in popular universities in Manila. Such universities include De La Salle University, University of the Philippines and Ateneo de Manila University. We were invited as part of the schools’ alternative program. This year, Lomomanila also went corporate. We were invited by the inhouse camera club of Hewlett Packard called “Shutters” to lecture on Lomography. It was well received and everybody had fun. We have several outstanding invitations to go back to some of the above universities to give the same lectures.

The Hong Kong Diana World Tour Event

The Diana World Tour aims to unite Lomographers from all over the world with one common motivation - an immense love for analog photography! It's a travelling exhibition of all things Diana - including photo safaris, learning workshops, the immense "Detrich Colletion" of classic Diana camera and Diana clones, delicious meals, and fairly out-of-control parties. Appropriately, its very first stop is Hong Kong - the birthplace of the original Diana camera of the 1960's! Running from 8/1/08 to 8/3/08, the highlights will include:

To commemorate the Diana World Tour event in Hong Kong (the very first stop of the Diana World Tour, mind you), we're thrilled to present an exclusive limited edition clone of the Diana F+ camera. "Hong Meow" is the phonetic translation of "Panda" in Cantonese - Hong Kong's spoken language. As in neighboring mainland China, the Panda is one of Hong Kong's most beloved symbols. This limited edition was designed by the Lomography Asia team and features:

My Trip to Vienna: An Instax Travel Diary

I recently took a trip to Vienna to visit my friends at the Lomography office. I decided to take along the trusty "Instax Cheki 55i":http://www.lomography.com/instant/cameras/cheki55 camera and keep a journal of my trip. The credit card-sized photos are perfectly portable, and each memory is instantly captured and shared in real-time. Each photo has space for a description, and now the pictures can tell a complete story.
