With an excellent choice of food, and a beer tap on your table, what more could you want? Happy hour everyday ’til 6pm? Then you will love the imaginatively titled “The Pub”.
There are a lot of places to drink beer in Prague, and I mean a LOT. They are all reasonably priced compared to the UK so it can be a bit of a challenge to choose one beer cellar above all the others. On our last evening in Prague, we were cold and tired and looking for somewhere a bit different that we could hole up in for the evening. We stumbled upon The Pub.
This bar in the centre of Prague (Praha 1) is excellently located; close to the river and the astronomical clock. We were initially attracted by the fact that it was happy hour ’til 6pm (giving us at least 2 happy hours of drinking!) but once we spotted the unique way of being served, we were drawn in immediately.
In The Pub, you are sat at a table and then you are on your own! Your table comes equipped with a beer tap (4 in one) and a touch screen control panel which works in a variety of languages. We were given some glasses and guided through how to use the screen and we were off. The beauty of the beer taps is that if there are 4 of you or less, you can each be assigned your own tap, which keeps track of how much you have spent, by measuring how much you have had to drink. You can also use the touch screen to order food (we had the Bavarian beer sausages, mmmmm) and play songs on the jukebox. The more drunk we got, the more songs we played, but the people at our neighbouring tables seemed to be enjoying our selections as they all did the “woo oo oo” during Dire Straits’ Walk of Life!
This is a super fun bar and I cannot recommend it enough. We spent a good 2 hours there, ate lots of yummy food, played at least 20 songs on the jukebox and drank ’til we were singing all the way home, and it all cost us approximately £25. A bargain in central Prague for a really good time.
