Take a Romantic Walk Alongside the River Ouse, York

Even though York is quite a bustling and busy city, there is always an opportunity to escape the madness and take a romantic stroll down by the river.

The River Ouse is conveniently located close enough to the city centre that it is easily accessed by foot if you happen to be in the shopping area or near the train station. There are also plenty of places to park if you come specifically for this purpose. It is a very tranquil walk, so suits a romantic stroll, hand in hand with your loved one, perfectly. Not only are there boats to spot going up and down all the time, there are also ducks to feed, benches to rest on, and photos to take.

The bridges going across this river are something really special so I recommend crossing over a few times to get a decent vantage point and take some shots from a different angle.

If you walk along the river heading out of town, you reach the very impressive Millennium Bridge and just off one side of this, a lovely park, which is a great place to treat your loved one to an ice cream. There are also little pubs and bars all along the riverside to stop for a drink if the sunshine gets too much (not likely up North!).

This is a great place to go for a walk and it has a very romantic feel to it, especially as the sun is setting in the early evening giving everything a lovely golden glow. Autumn is the perfect time to visit this area as all the leaves of the willow trees hanging down alongside the river banks will be turning and glowing in the sunshine. I can’t wait to visit the area in a month or so when this happens.

    Stalking the City: Ricardo Lozano

New York is an infinitely photographable city in spite—or because—of its innate chaos. And even when the medium is film, praised nowadays for the virtue of slowness, the photographer must keep up with the city’s pace. Ricardo Lozano, 35mm photographer and Lomography community member, managed to do it for the series OK Commuter, now a book by A Love Token Press.

    LomoLocations: Reno, Nevada

In prime areas of New York and San Francisco, the phrase ‘rush hour’ is always on the menu. Drive up to Reno, and the same expression fizzles. Many roads are framed by mountains and shrubbery, a picture of calm in the city. But the night makes up for the day’s stilly mood. Casinos flaunt LED signs and marquees, a treat for urban photographers.

Inspiring and Daring Women in Contemporary Photography (Part I)

We love a striking photo as much as the next person, but a unique point of view makes us head straight to a feature. Who should the world know more about? Who has rocked our perception of beauty, sexuality and creativity? These questions populate our notepads, and our list of photographers is quite long. For International Women's Day 2016, we whittle the directory down to our current favorites, photographers who resist labels (even the ones we give them) and dare the world to see what they see.
