A Morning Cuppa at Kissa Kissa

One dreary morning in Seoul, I woke up a bit earlier than my travel companions. Thinking to let them snooze a little longer, I loaded in a new roll of film into my camera and decided to explore the intriguing back lanes of our neighbourhood.

Funny to think that I had been living there for the last 14 days but had never thought of walking beyond the main roads. As I made my way through new paths, I discovered another sight of Seoul I had never seen, and most importantly for this blog, a little cafe with mint green zinc walls called Kissa Kissa 茶茶.

Now how could I resist this little cafe, hidden from the main street glare, with mint green walls and flower planters? If Camy had been around, she would have been pulling me in right from the start. As it was, I actually walked for another 15 minutes before doubling back.

Once inside, I found the interiors of the cafe to be as charming as the exterior. The walls were one big whimsical woodland mural, designed to bring out the child within. It was also as cozy as can be, with little potted plants sitting on the window sill.

It being an early morning visit and a rather gloomy overcast day, I ordered a single cup of cafe latte for that shot of energy and to keep me toasty warm. (Spring in Korea can be rather chilly for tropical souls like us.)

It was quite the prettiest cup of coffee I have ever had. See that silver thimble, that’s the receipt holder!

And yes, the latte did its job, waking me up for another morning of sightseeing and warming my insides.
