Congratulations to palkina, one of the Make Your Prophecy Competition finalists! Read on to see her winning artwork and find out why she chose to represent the prophecy she did…
The judges have been meeting daily trying to choose a winner for the Make Your Prophecy Competition, and they are have a tough time. We received 225 email submissions and over 1800 submissions through the competition page, and sorting through them has not been an easy task. We are down to ten finalists, which we would like to share with you in no particular order.
Name: Ira Palkina
Why did you choose the prophecy you chose? What does this prophecy mean to you?
I chose this prophecy at first sight. Because this story is about me. It was like a flash. In a moment lomography opened my eyes and I suddenly realized how this world is beautiful, multiform and simple at the same time. I saw it through the plastic lenses, multiexposure and x-process of lomographers from around the world.
After some of my photo experiments, I noticed that now I know every piece, texture, object of my surroundings as own part of me. And they are so incredibly beautiful. How could i ignore this fact before? :)
Why did you choose to represent it as you did?
I’ve long wanted to get beyond the static pictures and thinking over the idea of making something like a stopmotion. But I didn’t have quite clear plan and storyline.
This competition pushed things on. I thought: “This is it! Real Life Beauty in lomophotostopmotion! This is just what I always wanted to make! I need a lot of rolls, Go!”
It was my first such experience and it was a great experience! I must say now I can’t stop. I like this role of lomodirector and there are a few crazy ideas that are waiting in the wings.
What do you think would be a good 11th Prophecy?
