Nelson Street in Bristol Becomes a Graffiti Gallery!

The home of Banksy gives a rundown street a graffiti makeover to give it new life as a tourist attraction. Nelson Street is now home to some of the world’s best street art so why not check it out?

Nelson Street used to be a rundown part of Bristol, drab 60’s buildings that people wouldn’t look at twice, let alone take photos of. But all that changed in one weekend in August as over 50 of the world’s top graffiti artists descended on the street and gave it one serious makeover.

And what better way to record this awesome event than in Lomo style!

The street has been filled with artists from Bristol and as far afield as the US, Brazil, and Spain during the week with more and more buildings being converted from concrete monsters to giant canvases.

And then what better way to celebrate such an awesome transformation than to have a New York-style block party? The streets were shut off, roads were astroturfed and lined with deck chairs and out came food stalls and stages.

But the best thing about this event? The art is staying there! Bristol council have really embraced street art since the Banksy exhibition last year brought so many visitors to the city and they’re hoping that Nelson Street will do the same. So head down there and be prepared to be amazed!
