When I was a little girl Bourton on the Water was my favourite place to visit and after years of living away from the area I finally got to take my cameras there.
Situated in the heart of the beautiful Cotwolds, England, Bourton on the Water is an almost exclusively yellow Cotswold brick village, which is famous for the picturesque River Windrush that runs through the village adjacent to the High Street. The river is crossed by several low, arched stone bridges allowing visitors to cross to either side.
Due to these arched bridges Bourton on the Water is often referred to as the “Venice of the Cotswolds”, which makes the village extremely popular with tourists in the summer, as you can tell from the photos.
As well as having picnics beside the river and paddling in the water, tourists can also explore the amazing shops and also the local tourist attractions such as the Model Village and Birdland Park and Gardens. I also highly recommend an ice cream from one of the many vendors, it’s the perfect companion (alongside your cameras) for strolling along the river and taking in the surroundings.
