At one of the Lomowalks, a friend suggested that I should use the LC-Wide for music photography. Now I know that LC-W is great but then I wanted to push it to the extreme limit and find out what happens.
A friend of mine is close pals with the band Them Clones and she wanted to go see them play & take some pictures of them. So off we went at 8pm in the night to Bluefrog at Phoenix Mills, Bombay.
Bluefrog is one of the few places which is dedicated to great music. Almost all through the month they have live performances, great DJ’s and amazing music.
So we reached there, before the band took the stage. Lucky for me I got to meet them all in the green room, waiting before the show. When you say you’re a photographer, most people expect to see you with a huge big dslr or a super expensive camera. And they were kind of surprised that I was using a film camera that too so tiny.
I am used to using the LC-A+ but this was probably my first proper test with the LC-Wide. The biggest difference I see is the aperture for the lens. When shooting with my other film cameras, I usually would shoot only with very big apertures like f1.4 or f2.8. But the LC-Wide max aperture is only f4.5 which is a little bit of challenge.
But then I geared up and looked for light. The camera performs quite well even with such low light and the best part is that there is not really much to worry about focus like the LC-A+. There are only 2 settings so it was really easy.
I like the whole idea of LC-Wide, its best part is that its really ungaurding. People don’t really realize what they’re looking into so they don’t really pay attention or take you lightly. Which is great because I didn’t want the band members to pose or feel intimidated by the camera.
I’ve sent the pictures to my friend and I am wondering what she would say about them. =)
