Maracaibo, Zulia: the Warmest Place in Venezuela
4 5 Share TweetI can say it’s the warmest place in my country with one of the tastiest food ever although some people say this is the hottest land in Venezuela.
Maracaibo is Zulia state’s capital and it’s located 10 hours away from Caracas by bus or 45min away by plane. When arriving by bus, you pass by Maracaibo Lake through Rafael Urdaneta Bridge after that you can see the industrial area of Maracaibo, as it is the first oil-producing state in the country and there are several smokestacks around.
There are too many places to visit in this state, it’s always hard to go to all of them but if you stay for around two weeks it is possible. Down here a few pictures from my favorite places:
Nearby the church there’s Lia Bermudez Museum, where you can find exhibitions and sometimes movie festivals and such. Here, you need to climb a spiral staircase to get into the museum’s dome, a point where you get to see the port.
In front of the museum there is Baralt Square. During the week, several merchants put out their umbrellas and sell any kind of things: groceries, toys, clothes, etc.

El Buen Maestro Square, it’s a beautiful spot next to Maracaibo Lake, here I will show you this Spinner picture made by my friend Gabriela.

As I said, there are too many places to visit in Maracaibo, soon I’ll write another location with more places. I always go there to relax a bit from Caracas and visit my friends.
