Having Fun With the SuperSampler!

When you’ve gotten bored of taken static photos with your other analogue cameras, you gotta pick up a SuperSampler!

If there is one thing I learned when using my Supersampler, it is that it is a very light hungry camera! While other cameras require only 100-400 ISO film in bright daylight, a SuperSampler needs 800 ISO even on a bright sunny day! Luckily enough, my favorite film processing shop carries 800 ISO film at only $3.90 a roll! So I loaded up my SuperSampler with a roll of 35mm Fujicolor NPZ 800 and brought it to Marina Barrage for its maiden voyage!

The SuperSampler is one of the lightest cameras out there, with a plastic body and 4 panoramic 20mm plastic lenses that capture a series of 4 pictures with one snap. This camera has insanely fast shutter speeds of 4 photos in 2 seconds (.50sec/photo) or 4 photos in 0.2 seconds (.05sec/photo)! A little knob at the back of the camera allows you to adjust the shutter speed so you can capture both fast moving and slower moving objects/people!

Since it uses 35mm film, you can go crazy on one roll of film and capture up to 36 photos! I recommend you use your SuperSampler to capture moving objects, like children or someone popping open a champagne bottle!

Besides capturing moving objects, you can always move your camera instead! Swing it around, toss it up or shake it!

I almost always have my shutter speed tacked to the slower speed, because I realize nobody moves so fast within the span of 0.2seconds! As evidenced by my ultra slow reaction speed, my experiment to photograph myself with my fingers in the 1, 2, 3 and 4 positions failed quite spectacularly! I ended up with three panels of “2” and one panel of “3”!

I brought my SuperSampler out on a rather cloudy day, so my photos seem to be missing the saturation the camera is supposed to give. Since there is no way to attach the flash, make sure you bring this camera out only in the brightest sunlight!

The SuperSampler, the queen of multilensed cameras, is now in black. It takes four sequential panoramic shots on a single, action-packed 35mm photo. See all SuperSampler colours and designs in our Shop!
