The Wetspot: Burlesque and Cabaret

One of my favourite nights out is the monthly Wetspot Burlesque and Cabaret evening at the Wardrobe in Leeds. Not only is it great entertainment, but it is reasonably priced, attracts a great crowd, and encourages my boys to get all suited and booted (swoon!)

The Wardrobe is primarily a Jazz bar in Leeds city centre. It appeals to people of all ages for live music, decent cocktails and a nice crowd. Once a month, the area in the basement is transformed into a night of 40s and 50s music and a few hours of cabaret and burlesque acts.

I enjoy this immensely every time I go, as it is always something a bit different, it is fun and sexy and the staff and guests are always great fun. My favourite act is Miss Ana Fur Laxis who is a burlesque dancer and axe-thrower. Her dances are very sexy and very well thought out. I have watched her do her Bettie Page routine around 4 times and I never ever tire of it. You can read more about her at One of the main reasons I like it so much is that the lads who I usually go with (Dave included) get all dressed up nice, as do I for a change as the rock clubs we usually choose require nothing more than jeans and trainers so this feels just a little bit special.

I am hoping to go to The Wetspot this coming weekend so I will try to get some good photos of the acts since I understand the lovely Ana will be there. If you are in Leeds, you ought to try and check it out. The next dates are 16 July, 20 August, and 17 September.
