AgfaPhoto CT Precisa: Go Green!

Old batches of Agfa CT Precisa slide film were famous for giving bright, punchy colors when cross-processed. Now that the original Agfa film is no longer in production, a newer, updated version is here to take its place, and the different emulsions used to make the new film give rise to radically different results.

The first roll of Agfa CT Precisa I ever shot was expired and belonged to the original batch of film (using the old emulsion); therefore, I got the results I had hoped for – super saturated images with no strong color shifts.

However, subsequent rolls of CT Precisa I purchased belonged to the new batch of film, which were rebranded AgfaPhoto CT Precisa and contained an entirely different emulsion altogether. Getting back my images from the lab, I was shocked to find that the majority of images from this new film all had an extremely green color shift (though blue tones were still evident in a few).

Although initially disappointed by the overall green and yellow-ness of the film (simply because it was not what I was expecting), I decided to shoot a few more rolls, and eventually got used to the different results it gave. Today, I think I can safely say that I’ve grown to love the colors the film exhibits, although I do still want to find a slide film that is a good substitute for the original Agfa CT Precisa.

Do you personally love or hate the results gotten from the new emulsion? Take a look at some more images below, and decide for yourself!

I love the old precisa, and have still yet to fall in love with the new stuff.

The best replacement I've found for dead-stock CT-Precisa is Lomo Xpro Chrome 100. Strong blues and reds with very little colorcast.

I prefer blue too :/ I bought one quite recently and most of my photos were really blue, but with lots of green too. I wrote a review on it too hahaha.
