I had always seen graffiti dotted around in East London but never really appreciated it until I started Lomography. When the Lomography Gallery Store London Soho published their workshops for the month and I noticed there was a Lomowalk with Russell Darling around East London, I jumped at the opportunity to go round London with my Lomo cameras.
I dragged my friend along to come round with me on the walk and she definitely was in for a treat.
We started off in Old Street and within 5 minutes was greeted with a number of graffiti art. One of the artists we came across with was from an Italian artist RUN. With his work was a number of other pieces of art as well.
Stik is another artist who has art found in East London, this is definitely one of my favourites. Stik has been creating Stik people around London for over ten years.
Sometimes with street art it isn’t directly in your face. Pablo Delgado’s street scenes are definitely ones to go and hunt for. They are really small so keep your eyes wide open!
The art did not stop and we were coming across more and more, hours went by without us really realising it. Russell had so much to share with us that we felt very lucky to have been part of this lomowalk. I will never look at East London the same way now. I want to go back and just see more art and can’t wait for my next visit to East London.
Nearest tube stations are Old Street on the Northern Line or Liverpool Street on the Central Line.
