You don’t have to spend a lot to be a Lomographer.
I sometimes encounter a few people who are interested in Lomography, and they are worried that being a Lomographer means one has to buy an expensive cameras like LC-A with Russian lens, a Lubitel 166+, a Horizon Perfekt, etc. right away. This is because they think that only with these special cameras can you be able to shoot photos with dark corners, play with multi-exposure, splitzer, change lens, etc.
I try hard to convince them that you don’t have to spend a lot to be a Lomographer. Shooting analogue does not necessarily mean go expensive. Then I will show them my cheap multi-lens photos.
I try to explain that different cameras are only the tools we use when we enjoy Lomography and life. Cameras can’t or shouldn’t affect our happiness. It is the whole process or engagement in Lomography that makes us happy. If you have a slim pocket, my suggestion is go find a cheap plastic camera and have fun. If you have a fat wallet, my suggestion is go and spend in Lomography’s dear cameras. Whatever camera you buy, enjoy!
