Wanna take a cultural walk at the museum but at the same time don’t wanna leave the brilliant sun behind? Hong Kong Railway Museum is your choice! Just grab your beloved camera and come with me guys!
Hong Kong Railway Museum is located at the heart of Tai Po Market. Being the former Tai Po Market Railway Station before the electrification of the Kowloon-Canton Railway (KCR), it was built in 1913 with an old-fashioned traditional Chinese style, which was unique among other railway stations designed at that time. It was declared a monument in 1984, and then refurbished and opened to public again as a museum in 1985.
With most of the exhibits being displayed outdoors, it’s no doubt the perfect place to enjoy sunshine and at the same time, keep the shutter buttons of your beloved cameras busy!
Outdoor exhibits include Sir Alexander Diesel Electric Engine No. 51, named after the former Hong Kong Governor, Sir Alexander Grantham.
The Narrow Gauge Steam Locomotive, W.G.Bagnall 0-4-4T, which formerly ran on the Sha Tau Kok Railway between Fanling and Sha Tau Kok.
And, last but not least, 6 historic coaches featuring compartments of different classes for you to explore!
Actually, the classic outlook of the old station building and the above mentioned “engines”, make Hong Kong Railway Museum a hot spot for taking pre-wedding photos!
Let’s walk hand-in-hand with your loved ones on the track and capture every romantic moment with your beloved camera!
