Horizon Perfekt

2011-07-06 14

I love natural hues, I love landscapes, I love panorama, and I love the beauty of Mother Nature. I love Horizon Perfekt and I can capture the every beauty of nature and every single moment in panorama. Horizon Perfekt, perfect my life.

I am a nature lover and I love panorama. Before this, I always shoot landscapes with my DSLR and stitch the photos into panorama format using Photoshop. I still enjoy doing this, but Horizon Perfekt now takes the job.

When I first saw the Horizon Perfekt on lomography.com, I knew I must have it. With 28mm swing lens, it is wide enough and I can take 120 degree of vision. The best part of Horizon Perfekt is that I can have full control. Aperture from f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16, I can pick the aperture value that I want. This camera is in fixed focus, means that when it is f/16, it focuses from 1.0m to infinity. When it is f/2.8, it focuses from 5.5m to infinity. But this is not a problem for me; mostly I shoot for landscape, and the focus distance is good enough for me. Just when want to shoot in indoor for fast swing, I will try to choose the smallest aperture that I can.

Horizon Perfekt has exposure time from 1/2s to 1/500s, which means I can take night shots too! Slow shutter also helps to take indoor shots.

The camera does have incorporated spirit level; it does help to create straight horizontal line. But sometimes I don’t follow this rule; I like the curved horizontal line, as sometimes it creates “wow” and it does tell me that the earth is round in shape. Go around, and discover your paradise.

3 filters that are included are an add-on, UV, green-ish, and ND-1 filter. Pick 1 of them that suit and plug into camera. UV filter is in my camera all the time, to protect the tiny and amazing 28mm lens.

This camera is big and heavy, but it always has its place in my bag and my heart, always awesome and perfect.

How to Develop Photos on Stone in a Darkroom

I have always loved the idea of seeing my photos on stone and other natural materials. So, a few months ago, I began googling how it could be done. This is how I discovered (and fell in love with) liquid emulsion. Liquid emulsion is photographic emulsion which you can melt down and paint on any surface. You can then expose an image and develop it using traditional darkroom chemicals. In this article, I would like to explain the process a little, so that if you are also interested in giving this fun process a go, you can!
