Wipeout in the Real World

Attention: video game addicts! Remember Wipeout? Remember only having a console to play it? What if you had little remote controlled cars and a stretch of track to wipe your opponents out?

Gaming aficionados, Jehmlich and Matthes Mikysec, created an analogue version of the racing game with an old arcade cabinet, camera sticks, R/C cars, and a convincing cardboard track.

The camera sticks are embedded in the cars, sending a live feed from the track to the player’s monitor.

As some would put it, the elaborate analogue setup lets players “experience the game in the real world.”
