Show & Tell: Swimming

A few months ago, Lomography asked us to show case our hobbies aside from Lomography itself. Well… I’ve got one. :)

For the past eight years, swimming has been a part of my after school life. Everyday after school, I would go to the pool and practice with my friends and train with my coaches.

When I first started, swimming was something that I did for fun with my friends; splishin’ and splashin’ in the pool as a little elementary school kid. Practices were enjoyable and fun, only about an hour long for three days a week.

But as we got older, practices got longer, more difficult, and built our endurance. I’m definitely not one of the fastest swimmers but I’m decent. Our practices are now 2 and a half hours long, 5-6 days a week. We swim from 4:00 to 6:30. The sun usually goes down, and it’s night swimming for us.

Even though practices can be really hard to endure sometimes, I think it’s worth it. I’ve met SO many people that I’m really good friends with now. Their a huge part of my life along with swimming. I don’t think I could imagine my life without it, there would be too much missing.

Aside from practices, we have competitions and seasons. During swim meets, we get to pig out, laugh, and take pictures!

But when we get serious, it’s time to suit up and focus.

Swimming really is the best sport out there, you get in shape, work all your muscles, meet tons of people, and build relationships. I’d definitely have to say that swimming is a huge part of my life aside from Lomography of course :)

I can fully say that same about rowing! The last 5 years, 10 sessions a week during the summer, best friends. I think sport in general does a lot for a happy life!
