I haven’t been a fan of the Fisheye when it came to indoor shots. But that all changed after I got back my negatives from a club night in central Frankfurt!
Every first Monday of the month means one thing to my friends and I: Hotelstaff!
Hotelstaff is basically the gathering of people who have anything and everything to do with events, caterings and hotels to go get wasted and party. Every month, on the first Monday, the party takes place in one of the hippest clubs of Frankfurt – Velvet Club.
I’m not a fan of that kind of thing anymore, so last month was the first time in months that I went clubbing. Since I didn’t want to get too drunk, and I knew the music wouldn’t be my cup of tea, I knew I needed something to keep me busy.
Sadly, the Fisheye 1 doesn’t have an MX button and I only had one roll of film, which ran out after about 30 minutes. So what to do? Carefully rewind and shoot again!
I have to say I like this technique a lot! That way, you can overlap your Fisheye shots, and they still look cool. Also, I’m very glad I didn’t have any special flash filters – it’s as natural and wild as it can get – no over-the-top red or green flashes, no loss of detail (the alcohol did enough of that) – everything clear enough that you could wake up the next day, look at the pictures and know exactly what you did!
A lot of people came up to me the next day and said “Duuude..what the hell happened last night?” And finally I was in a position that I could answer these questions! And that is how my camera helped our night out and provided many answers for the morning after!
