this was the first london lomography thursday

6 PM sharp: 47 Lomographers were lined up in front of the HMS President Ship, ready to get the party started. The first hour passed in a breeze with intense episodes of meet and greets, LomoCocktails, Lomographing and tongue twisting.

6 PM sharp: 47 Lomographers were lined up in front of the HMS President Ship, ready to get the party started. The first hour passed in a breeze with intense episodes of meet and greets, LomoCocktails, Lomographing and tongue twisting.

The crowd then made their way to the Wrennery room at the bottom of the Ship. A fearless ten took the honour of speaking up at this first Open-Mic session, introducing themselves and 15 of their favourite Lomographs in a 5 minute talking frenzy.

Kelly Harcus has been Lomographing signs all over the world (yet never people) for a year.

Helen Errington is Lomography Ambassador of New Castle and introduced her fascination of feet, giving her secrets of the amazing colour saturation around this inexhaustible topic.

Fats Shariff (still LomoHomeless) predominantly shoots strangers vertically with his Horizon Kompakt, leaving the depicted in angles and distortions similar to the halls of mirrors.

Tony Horgan (still LomoHomeless) took his curious listeners on a day in his life to his workplace at Stuff Magazine, out drinking with his friends and on a journey back home.

Adam Scott, long-time Lomography friend and photographer who collaborated in several Lomography Book releases, showed his best bits and pieces.

Marc Davies presented his best world-travel shots, including a set of bins on the beach!

David Murphy (still LomoHomeless)
exhibited his humble beginnings with the Diana+ from a holiday in Andalusia, brilliantly ending his show with the children’s rhyme; “here’s the church, here’s the steeple, open the doors, and here’s all the people.”

Julia Svetlova featured her own version of “National Geographic” with her images from a trip to the black sea.

Catrin Hayward (still LomoHomeless)
was the new girl on the block, straight from Wales. She paraded her many, many, many party images. We will be seeing more from this girl for sure!!

Maya Newman really needs no introduction: she is an old rabbit of the Lomography world. Maya spoke for a good minute before she switched mediums and presented her wonderful tunes. Finishing on an amazing sunset image was a perfect ending to the show.

Undoubtedly: drinks were drunk all way through during sporadic stopovers at the bar in the upper deck.

Without the weather-Gods on their side, the group decided to ditch the Lomography Night Snapping Adventure Tour and do some more talking and drinking.

The Lomographers already gave their RSVP for the next meet at the Photographers’ Gallery on May 15. In a workshop dedicated to the wonders and retro-charm of the Diana F+, Lomographers, amateurs and beginners will learn the tricks and scams of the beauty in plastic. Firstly introduced, the Diana+’s newest accessories will be tested to its bones and screws. More details soon!

Myself and Linsey ( editor) had a great time at the first one. It was fun and inspiring meeting so many other people on the same wavelength, but all with their own take on things. I found my old lomohome: tonyhorgan, which I'll update soon with some new pics.

I've uploaded some video clips from the event here. (I'm the one talking about my cat, a heron and Gillette Corner):

There's four of them, and they're pretty big files as I had the camcorder set to maximum quality - which is why we only got these bits before the memory card filled up. Go to the links, enter the 3-letter code and you'll get to the download link after a short wait.

erm yr links dont work - all I see is hawt girls :)

Hmm.... the links direct you to Megaupload, which hosts big files for free. To get to the files, you need to ignore just about everything on the site. Just fill in the three letters you see near the top of the page in the little box.

That takes you to another page where you have to wait for a countdown to go from about 40 seconds to zero, then click on "Free download" button that appears, which should be a direct link to the file. You need to do that once for each of the vids.

I was going to post them on youtube, which would be much easier, but there's a bit too much personal info in mine - where I live etc.
