Cannes Recap: So far, So Cool!

Want to get the lowdown on Lomography in the Cannes Film Festival in a jiffy? Here’s a quick recap of the happenings from Day 1!

Our Cannes correspondent fredericdith has been keen on giving everyone the hottest news on Lomography’s participation in the world’s biggest film festival, but in case you’re looking for bite-sized reports, here’s a quick recap of the event’s highlights!

Day 1: Live from the Cannes Film Festival!

Lomography and MUBI have set-up a booth right inside the Palais not only to showcase our newest cameras and products, but to also let everyone get a feel of what it’s like to be in the festival! We told you about a dedicated microsite that you can check regularly for updates, and an exciting competition for the directors of the Short Film Corner!

Day 2: What we had for the lucky ones

By our second day, we gave everyone an exciting news: we’ve received 77 super interesting ideas for the competition, which means 77 multi-lens cameras are now on the prowl, capturing various scenes around the Palais des Congrès. We can’t wait to see what these 77 people have to show to all of us!

Day 3: Walking on the Croisette

The third day welcomed us with a fresh, sunny weather that’s too good to miss, so we decided to take a walk and give everyone a tour of the famous Croisette! Despite the crowding and rushing over the Palais, much of Cannes still retains its coast city charm, with people relaxing and basking in the sun!

Day 4: Mini Movie Contest Looks Promising!

By Day 4, we have already given away more than 200 multi-lens cameras for all the movie directors who gave us their crazy concepts for our mini movie contest. These ideas ranged from remakes of some of the greatest films, and also something about the glitzy film festival itself. If you’re still hanging on to that idea for the competition, our Cannes correspondent says you better hurry up and present it on Lomography and MUBI’s booth, before they ran out of cameras!

Schweppes Party Report

Our Cannes correspondent doesn’t want us to miss out on the fun, so we got a special report on the Schweppes private party on the Carlton beach! There, the Lomography crew got to hang-out in a 5-star location and mingled with some party people. One of them is an actress + DJ, who also happens to be a big Lomography fan!

If you’re still hungry for everything Cannes, why not take a look at some great photos from Cannes/France, or get updates from the Lomography crew live, right on site!
