Diana is many things, and stylish is one of them. Diana pops her collar.
Everything about the rebirth of Diana was amazing, but the creators did forget to attach a cable release screw in mount (a feature they added to her little sister, the Diana Mini), so what were they to do?
“Let’s give her a collar, with a cable release function” and so they created the next accessory that would change the way lomographers shoot. To me, this accessory is all about helping me with night time shots and self portraits.
The collar slips on over the original lens and fixes itself in place, sitting a lever over the shutter button. Push down on the cable release, and it activates the lever, which in turn activates the shutter. It works even with the fish eye lens as long as you put it in place before you switch out lenses.
The only downfall that I can think of is that you can’t attach the cable release and the ringflash mount on at the same time, but if you are doing a long exposure, it wont matter anyway.
So if you are in need of a helping hand (or cable) when doing a self portrait, or if you need to do a long exposure and want clear results, the cable release collar is perfect for the job. You can also attach the cable (without collar) to other cameras with a cable mount, such as the Diana Mini!
