Let me share with you the mother that has made ME possible.. in pictures that show you her delicate beauty and her quiet resolve. Here’s a heartfelt salute to my wonderful mom on Mother’s Day!
Do you ever wonder why the source or the ultimate extent of the greatest things are often referred to as “the mother” of this and that? The mother of all genius… the mother of all invention… the mother of everything and anything under the sun… Here’s a crack at unraveling that…
I suppose it springs from the fact that mothers are the vessels from which the birthing process is made possible. And beyond that role of merely producing, creating, ushering, and bringing forth, mothers conjure the forces that nurture, protect, enhance, and develop. It is of little mystery then that we hear heaps of praise and honor bestowed on mothers.
And so as the world celebrates Mother’s Day 2011, it gives me great pleasure to introduce to you the mother I give credit to for everything I am and everything I am not. All things good in me are mere glimpses of the infinite goodness that is so effortlessly hers. All things unremarkable I have managed to avoid are testaments to the beacon of light she has always been – inspiring me to do what is right and instilling in me the value of being the best I can be.
I grew up cradled in my mom’s embrace, which served as the nesting spot from where I first felt loved and protected. It is from this comfort zone where I was launched into the yet undiscovered wonders of the world I lived in as a child. My mom encouraged me to explore what was then unknown, and with her unblinking love, assured me that as I learned to live the life that was my own, I always had her ready embrace to which I could return whenever necessary.
Thirty-and-some years later, I share with you the mother that has made ME possible… in pictures that show you her delicate beauty and her quiet resolve. I show you too my mother who has evolved into yet another role she relishes… that of a rockin’ grandma to my nephew Miggy.
May you and your mothers have wonderful times celebrating moments of love and joy… and may your moments be captured on film, hahaha!
