Foma Fomapan T800 (B&W, 35mm, 800 iso)

4

I’m not the biggest fan of grainy films, usually I try to avoid high ISO films and I always try to manage with 400 ISO films, specially in B&W but this film definitely has got something I love.

I bought this film without knowing it, I needed some B&W films to take some shots in dark days, usually I try to buy Agfa APX Silvertone 400 but this one came along with the package and I decided to give it a try.

I loaded this film in my Ifbaflex TTL SLR camera during a small vacations and gave it a go, I wasn’t expecting something special out of this film, I know the brand but never tried a single film before; since it was a 800 ISO film I was expecting some grain and I was right but, somehow, I kinda like it, I personally think it matches the film “personality”, it gives that film noir look to your photos, adding some darkness, drama and suspense to all your shots and, in this case, its grain fits in this context like a glove.

I would like to find another film like this, I think its perfect to do a indoors photo session around this theme.
Personally I prefer films with less grain and more B&W/grey scale range but this film is more of a black/dark grey/white kind of film but I like it that way in this case; too bad I wasn’t prepared to do some really dark, hardcore and dirty B&W shots but we live to learn and in the next time I get my hands on another Fomapan roll I will have my revenge.
