This could be the soundtrack for those quiet moments – lazy mornings, calm afternoons or the moment when you’re about to drift off to sleep.
Memoryhouse is a collaboration between classical music student Evan Abeele and photographer/videographer Denise Nouvion. Originally, the idea was to pair up Abeele’s ambient music compositions with Nouvion’s visual art, until they decided to record their songs.
Their music will remind you of dreams – mysterious, comforting, nostalgic even. Floating in reverb and lush melodies is Nouvion’s crystal-clear vocals. “The way we’re trying to write songs is having Denise in the forefront, with the plaintive delivery, but then having the music behind it really determine the mood. If you just listen to the vocals, it’s sung very sedately and stoically, but the music underneath gives it that melancholy that the actual delivery doesn’t contain.” Abeele says in this interview.
Here’s a song from The Years EP (released in 2010) – “To the Lighthouse” – Memoryhouse
… and a wonderful cover of My Bloody Valentine’s “When You Sleep”:
