My favorite spot to get some or most of the sun? I can only think of one place, to go up North and head to our family’s ancestral house in Bani, Pangasinan. Surip is located at the westernmost part of the municipality along the South China Sea. As stated in their website, Surip is ideal for scuba diving, snorkeling, and recreational fishing. Different species of tropical fishes and lobsters abound this area.
Surip is just one of the beautiful and non-commercialized beaches in Bani, Pangasinan. Olanen and Tubong among others. The city has been my second home as this is where Mom’s side of the clan grew up. I wanted to share to the community my favorite “sun spot” for them to see a magnificent view of the ocean, to discover another tourist destination and most of all, help in my own little way in promoting tourism (my uncle is currently, and has been for years the Mayor). I’m proud to show off my hometown!
The place can be reached with a travel time of 5-6 hours from the Philippine capital, Manila. One can take a bus bound to Alaminos, Pangasinan that would already traverse the town. Then, ride a tricycle and ask the driver to take you to the shore. But I recommend bringing your own car to be able to go to other places the city has to offer and in that way, you can have more control of your time.
Luckily, our house is situated near the shores of Sitio Surip’s beach. Ahh…the pleasures of beachfront. Every morning I’m awakened by the sound of the waves and lulled by the sea breeze at night. (The glares of the moon on the water is a romantic sight to behold!) A typical afternoon, besides eating seafood, is spent roaming around exploring nature, biking on a great trail, swimming and playing with the big waves and my favorite, having a picnic by the beach. This is indeed a great place to relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the heat of the sun. A perfect place to bring those analog cameras and shoot your heart out!
