2011-04-20 10

Your SLR don’t have a lens? Want to make a cheap lens? well, here come a tipster for you guys who don’t have lens for your camera.

All you need is:
-SLR camera
-Body Cap
-Some hard Mounting Board
-Black tape
-Knife or scissor
-cheap Magnifying glass

1st:
make a big hole on your body cap

2nd:
make a hole to the mounting board that it can hold the magnifying glass

3rd:
tape the magnifying glass to the mounting board

4th:
tape the mounting board to the body cap

there you go, you have a cheap soft focus SLR lens. And this is my result for the home made lens.

Great tipster! On another note, It would be freakin´sweet if we could lose the spam in the comment areas. It seems to be increasing and it really cheapens the experience.

Estonian Intersections of Sight and Sound

Would you rather lose your vision or your hearing? As photographers, we might choose the latter without a second thought, especially while viewing the festival photos that photographer Mart Vares captured with the New Petzval 85 Lens. Still, who doesn’t love the pleasant mechanical shutter sound of an old SLR that makes us commit to analog photography? While following the Nordic delegation at this years Waves Central Europe, we caught up with the Estonian band, Würffel, whose songs leave us feeling equally delighted.

Cinematographer Michal Dabal on the Petzval Lens

Here’s what happens before we interview a photographer. We gush about the work though we have yet to find out the cameras and processes behind the brilliant composition or the light architecture. And even when they haven’t used a Lomo camera, we feature them anyway. But every once in a while comes a pro who uses one of our premium lenses at work and our fun cameras off-duty. This makes us mighty glad, more so when their images are good and worth sharing. We count cinematographer Michal Dabal's work among them.
