In Banger Racing, it’s more important to smash up the cars than get across the finish line!
Let’s face it, auto racing isn’t generally the most interesting spectator sport. When you’re at the race track, you’ll only get brief glimpses of the cars as they zoom past your location. Many people watch auto racing in the hope they’ll catch a spectacular crash. Of course, nobody wants anybody hurt for their entertainment, but it definitely makes the sport a little more exciting.
In Banger Racing, it’s all about the crashes. The sport is literally a mash up between traditional oval track racing and a demolition derby. The more you smash up your car and all the others around you, the better. If you happen to make it across the finish line at all, consider that a bonus.
You might be surprised to find a sport like Banger Racing in London. You might even be more surprised to know that the primary venue for this sport in London is located in Wimbledon, better known for a more civilized sport. But don’t fret, tennis fans, the Branger Racing track is located at its own venue, Wimbledon Stadium. Racing takes place every Sunday evening between September and the end of March.
