East London Graffiti Walk Stop #10: Truman Brewery Parking Lot

2011-05-07 1

The parking lot for Truman Brewery is more than just a car park. It’s a place to hang out, enjoy some food and drink, and view a unique piece from Banksy.

This parking lot is more like an urban square, without any grass. On weekends, you’ll find crowds of people having a drink and a chat. There are several eateries boarding the lot. Most notably, the “RootMaster” a vegan restaurant located in a classic London Routemaster bus. If you’re in the mood to pick up some music on vinyl, you’ll also find Rough Trade East just down the alleyway.

Two of the biggest art attractions in this area is a pink car used in one of Banksy’s stunts. It’s now on display near the back of the lot next to the Routemaster bus. You’ll also get a great view of one of the largest Space Invader mosaics. On other walls, you’ll find many more pieces from other street artists. This is stop #10, the final stop on our East London Graffiti Walk.

    I love the Spitalfields area! I was disappointed to see the huge Obey piece has been replaced now, but i love that the artwork is always changing around the area. Its where i took this pic, too;

    And the best part? Its only about 5 minutes away from the Lomography East London store!
