The Red Gallery is a pop gallery and events space.
The Red Gallery was intended to be a temporary three-month venue. The building in which it’s located has been marked for demolition, to be replaced by a hotel. The hotel project is on hold for now, so the Red Gallery remains open. The gallery is a part of the Red Project, which is an ongoing initiative aimed at regenerating empty buildings with cultural events, and by doing so, helping to regenerate the neighborhood.
The walls of the building in which it’s located is very popular with street artists, which makes it stop #1 on our East London Graffiti Walk. On almost every wall, high and low, you’re likely to see some street art created by internationally famous artists. Although street art is temporary by its very nature, this place is very active so you’re likely to always find something interesting.
