Cap Go Meh

元宵节 or Yuan Xiao Jie or Lantern Festival or Cap Go Meh in Hokkian dialect is a traditional Chinese holiday on the 15th day of the 1st lunar month, fourteen days after Chinese New Year’s Day (around the end of January and the beginning of February).

In South East Asia, Cap Go Meh is celebrated in a large scale, including Indonesia after the (Chinese) cultural suppression was abolished 15 years ago. Last time this kind of festival was celebrated was 52 years ago.

This huge event took place on 19th February 2011 in Bandung starting from Vihara Dharma Ramsi with 42 Litters (jiao), 20 Dragons (WuShi), 72 Lions (WuShi) and more than 4,000 participants from all over parts of Java Island.

This event is very exciting for me and adi_totp but we got separated during the celebrations. But none the less, it’s a great festival.
