Wright Brothers Soho

Oysters today, oysters everyday! Do you like oysters as much as I do? Good news! No need to go to Whitstable or Scotland, the only way is Soho! I used to go to Wright Brothers Oyster Bar at Borough Market from time to time, but I didn’t know they had a spot in Soho as well, until my gourmet friend took me there to have a quick oyster+Guiness anti-hangover fix.Yummy!

They have up to five different types of oysters here. Duchy natives, Colchester, Maldon, Spéciale de claire and Carlingford are on the current menu list. Duchy Oyster Farm is based in Cornwall so all the oysters are UK produced, which is nice to know. Two important tips: 1) Never disconnect oyster from the shell with your fork! By doing that you cause distraction to the oyster and it loses its taste. 2) If the oyster’s mussel doesn’t move when you disconnect it with your knife, and it smells weird, it might be dead, so better don’t eat it!

Once done with oysters (always fresh, always on the ice), time to move on. Whole Dorset crab, mussels, prawns, smoked mackerel pâté, Cornish sardines – the choice is vast. They have some dessert options as well, like Gelupo lemon sorbet or Chocolate pot and hazelnuts, but to be honest, I was always too full to try it. And, if you feel like having something from Wright Brothers, who is the leading supplier of oysters and shellfish to London’s finest restaurants and stores, but you don’t feel like leaving your house, they have an online store now with home delivery! Just click on the link: www.shopwrightbros.com

Bill paid, now it’s time to wander around Soho! All those neon signs of the sex shops are tres Lomo!:)
