“The Last Sitting”, an exposition, which displays 80 pictures of Marilyn Monroe’s last photo session by Bert Stern in 1962. Now, we have the pleasure to host it in Spain!
The sex symbol of the twentieth-century is back. Almost 50 years passed since her death, but confusing question, “Why?,” still remains unanswered. Unquestionably, somebody had a privilege to photograph her, in the suite of the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, 6 weeks before she passed away.
“The Last Sitting” was the work by photographer Bert Stern for Vogue magazine August issue carried out on June 24, 25 and 26 in 1962. More than 2500 picture of the famous actress were taken throughout the 3 days.
At the exposition we are presented with an extremely natural Marilyn, one without make-up and barely clothed, with her look being defined by her impressible smile. Photos published in Vogue, for example a photo of her in a tight black dress, as well as ones that were not liked by Marilyn and therefore not published, but were carefully stored by Stern, are now shown at the exhibition.
This is clearly an exposition that will bring us closer to the famous actress and may give us deeper insight in the last moments of her short life.
February 5 – March 12, Hotel Valbusenda situated in the locality of Toro en Zamora. The price of ticket is 9€, includes a cup of champagne Dom Pérignon, Marilyn’s favorite.
