Lomography X-Pro 200 Review

Saturated colors, bright yellow tones and fantastic contrast: Lomography x-pro 200 can take what would be an ordinary shot and transform it into an image where you can feel the sunlight and energy jumping out at you! This review looks specifically at x-pro 35mm with 200 ISO and all photos have been captured on a Diana Mini.

If it’s possible for a film to inspire an entire obsession with analogue, then that film is Lomography X-Pro Slide 200. I bought my Diana Mini on a whim, and this slide film was the first roll of film that I shot with my new trusty side kick. I wandered to Coney Island on a sunny afternoon with my Diana Mini and slide film in tow and managed to go through the entire roll of film within a couple of hours.

I can’t remember the last time I actually got excited about developing a roll of film, but I couldn’t wait to see the results. They did not disappoint! The colors were so vivid and saturated, they demanded your attention. More than anything, the film perfectly captured the feeling of Coney Island: the warmth of a sunny day and the detail in all the characters you find there. That one little roll of X-Pro Slide 200 had managed to solidify my new passion with analogue photography.

Now, Lomography X-Pro Slide 200 is considered a slide film, which needs to be cross-processed (hence the ‘x-pro’ in the name) in order to achieve the citrusy tones that it’s known for. I’ve found that you’ll get the best results when shooting on a bright, sunny day, but you can still get great photos even on slightly overcast days (the photo of my boyfriend sticking out his tongue was shot on a cloudy day). Just remember to change the settings on your camera accordingly! Regardless of when you’re shooting, the texture of the film will give you a slight grain, but photos will still have a crisp quality to them.

I still shoot with other film, but I always look forward to experimenting with the X-Pro Slide 200 more than any other film I have. If you want your photos to really pop, look no further than Lomography X-Pro Slide 200.
