One Day in Coney Island

1

Coney Island is an amusement park located on the outskirts of NY, Coney Island is not just an amusement park, it’s much more than this! Let me show you…

My sister and I went to New York some summers ago, and while we were standing in the middle of the Big Apple, big buildings, Central Park, museums, taxis, streets, and avenues, we decided to head to Brooklyn, basketball courts and neighborhood people which all breathed authenticity!

My brother, who had just stepped on that great city a few days before we arrived; and knowing my obsession with this kind of parks, told me I couldn’t lose the chance to go to Coney Island. He told us that we’d arrived there in 45 minutes by subway, but it was worth it.

It was a beautiful August day. We decided to start on the road and once we arrived, my Supersampler couldn’t stop taking pictures and started to lose control, then the reel was finished, so the only thing we could do was to get on the rides!

Brazil is an awesome country for traveling. There's so much to explore, each place very different from one another. It will definitely take a stretch of trips just to get to know this this South American pearl. I finished my copa tour last year in Marajó, the island of bulls—it just might be an eternal highlight for me.

Petzval Lenses: The Craft of Portraiture

The Petzval 85 and 58 Lenses remain favorites among Lomographers because of the quality bokeh, perfect for making dreamy portraits, à la classic paintings. But portraiture is more than just showing off a pretty face in a classic, vertical orientation: It's a marriage of elements. Think of it in terms of attitude and personality.

Portraits housed in gilded lockets, low-contrast ambrotypes, manually produced collages. This is the realm of collectors, the ones who act on personal impulse rather than the prescribed canon. Something about old prints draws them in, and it’s not necessarily perfection.

Lomography Day Trips: Hangzhou, Zheijang, China

Located in the Zhejiang province, Hangzhou is known as one of the most beautiful cities in China. I went there following my aunt’s advice. She studied calligraphy in Hangzhou Arts University (杭州美术大学) and told me, "When I sat by the lake, I just understood Chinese painters. They painted what they see, not less."

    Photographic Pairs

When a photographer encounters a pair, an instinct rushes in, "Is this a special, intimate moment I just stumbled on?" Or else, those accidents of two objects, two birds, two swaying plants camping together especially for your photo. This might not be the case, but it's still a pleasant thing for patterns and quirks to find their way into an everyday shot.
