Slavin, also designated by the National Cultural Monument, was erected in 1960 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the liberation of Bratislava in the Second World War.
Slavin is a powerful memorial and cemetery for the 6845 Soviet soldiers who fell when liberating the city of Bratislava at the end of World War II in April 1945. It was designed by Jan Svetlik.
