The TransCanada Highway runs from coast to coast of one of the largest countries in the world. It crosses vast barren landscapes, it climbs rugged mountain passes, it bisects small towns, and it navigates large cities. In Calgary, Alberta, for almost 50 years it has conveyed traffic that slows to a crawl to pass Peters’ Drive-In, “The Drive-In You Can’t Drive By”.
Peters’ has been serving the same menu, virtually unchanged since 1962; fresh, flame-broiled burgers made from 100% whole Canadian grade “A” ground chuck with no fillers, 30 flavours of real-ice-cream, and real-fruit milkshakes, buns made using old-fashioned slow-rising sponge dough, special recipe BBQ sauce, and french fries served in such a large portion that your hunger will subside before they do.
The Peters’ Drive-In philosophy has served as a successful business plan for half a century:
*Be persistent in all attitudes regarding quality.
*Buy only the best ingredients obtainable.
*Provide the highest level of customer service possible.
*Be absolutely fanatical about cleanliness.
“This may seem old-fashioned, but it works.”
Many of the employees have worked at Peters’ for over 30 years, and the owner claims that some of them make as much as four-times the legal minimum wage!
If you see a chartered bus pull-up, run to the nearest line-up before 40 tourists beat you to it! The Drive-In is a popular place for tour buses to pull into the ample parking lot for a break and a bite to eat. But don’t get in line before hitting a bank machine, Peters’ is CASH ONLY.
