Thursday night’s analogue love-in at the Lomography Gallery Store Toronto shared many traits with our famed Diana cameras: exiting, unpredictable, radiant and, at times, intoxicatingly blurry. Celebrating the launch of our two newest Diana darlings, the Diana F + “Take My Heart” and the Diana Mini “Love is in the Air,” it was the flashiest Valentine’s Day party in town – quite literally!
The free beer and champagne flowed like water as our vibrant legion of Lomographers came out with cameras asnappin’ to mix and mingle with our resplendent staff and each other. You cut a rug to our funky tunes, indulged in our decadent cupcakes and sweet spread by Sugar Noodle, shot from the hip or just waited to be shot by a love dart (and believe us, more than a few of you fell victim to our strapping young cupids).
Hoping to take home the grand prize of a Diana Mini “Love is in the Air,” some people took a stab at our candy-filled guessing jar. Unfortunately, the contest wasn’t geared towards the less than sober (ie. Mostly everyone).
Among the lovely Lomo faithfuls in attendance was deepfried_goodness and Ron Miyanishi, a local shutterbug who owns one of the original ‘60s models of the Diana. “I saw it at an auction in Thornhill,” he proudly explained. “I won’t dare use it, though. It’s still in the box with the instructions and everything. It was a hidden gem.”
Like finding buried treasure, indeed. Much like the experience of chancing upon a Lomography shindig. Any night with us is a guaranteed analog blow out. We’re not just a store, we’re a shimmering subcultural hotspot. Come be a part of the picture! If you missed the Launch Party, then bring your Valentine to one of our lovey-dovey workshops this weekend: See the World Through Rose Coloured Glasses this Saturday February 12th at 1pm and Diana Mini Half Frame Love Story on February 13th (Sun) at 1pm.
