The Honolulu Zoo
4 9 Share TweetAcross the street from the popular Waikiki Beach is a place of equal delights and it is called the Honolulu Zoo. Come take a walk through the zoo with me.

The City & County of Honolulu runs the Honolulu Zoo today; however, it is the only zoo in the US which was created using grants from a sovereign King. This was before the US overthrow of the Hawaiian government. It was back in 1876 when King David Kalakaua gave up royal lands for the formation of a public park.
Today the Honolulu Zoo is a fun place for kids and Lomographers to walk the shady paths. Yes, there are tigers, monkeys, and other exciting wildlife. But with the abundance of tourists there are also pigeons and peacocks that are brave enough to try and steal your hotdog right out of your hand.
My favorite place in the zoo is the Keiki Zoo (Kids Zoo). In the Keiki Zoo you can crawl through a giant fish pond, get in spitting distance to llamas, pet goats and other great things.
Admission to the Zoo is $12 for adults unless you have a Hawaiian driver’s license, then the price is only $6. This makes it an extremely affordable adventure.
