Map It and Tag It Rumble: Quintay - Chile

3

Do you like diving into the deep blue? Then you must to come to Quintay! It is a small creek located on the route between two of the biggest cities of Chile, Santiago, and Valparaiso.

Whaling was quite a big thing in this town until 1967 when the Chilean Government signed an international treaty that banned the hunting of whales.

Near the old Whaling is fisherman creek. Fishermen have put up seafood restaurants on the banks of the creek. This area is ideal for walking, hiking, sea bathing, fishing and enjoying your stash of seafood.

The beach is made up of clean, white sand which stands out in the surrounding lush forests of pine.

People go to Quintay to practice dive. The place has developed a beautiful marine ecosystem. Quintay has beautiful surprises under the sea as wrecks and an amazing sea-ecosystem.

Khalik Allah: A Halo in the Darkness of Night

He calls himself Khalik Allah – a creator, a limitless, timeless, infinite being. He documents life as it comes and goes, as it hurts, as it glows inside the protagonists of his stories. His photography and videography take us deep into the never-ending nights of Harlem, a place where the darkness might seem to reach its peak. Yet, he is capturing light in its purest form, reminding us that it lies in everyone’s eyes, within everyone’s self.

    Photographic Pairs

When a photographer encounters a pair, an instinct rushes in, "Is this a special, intimate moment I just stumbled on?" Or else, those accidents of two objects, two birds, two swaying plants camping together especially for your photo. This might not be the case, but it's still a pleasant thing for patterns and quirks to find their way into an everyday shot.

How (Not) to Make It in New York

Everything I had fit into eight boxes and two suitcases. That’s all I had collected in my 22 years on earth, eight boxes and two suitcases. My friends and I moved to Brooklyn in the dead of winter, just after a huge snowstorm. I came from California and had no real experience living in snow. All of it was magical to me.

Black and White Photography: The Forms of the World

Colors may be amped to look unreal, like nothing of this world. Shots may be doubled, cross-processed, post-processed, mixed up into collages. The possibilities are infinite, yet some photographers still prefer black and white. Even in 2016, it is an ode to classic values of precision and balance. Light and shadow must be one pleasing dance. And just like in a well-choreographed piece, forms are obvious or playing coy. It all depends on how you're looking.

Doug DuBois on My Last Day at Seventeen

Doug DuBois spent five summers photographing the small neighborhood of Russell Heights in Ireland to capture the essence of coming of age: the inevitable loss of youth and the imminent transition into adulthood. Those four years resulted in his latest book, My Last Day At Seventeen. The book is a visual tale told through a collection of photographs and gives an alternative perspective through a comic narrative around the same subject. This creative combination of two distinct narratives in one book not only works wonderfully in visual terms; it also serves as an essential tool that lets the reader dig deeper into the story being told, making one go back to the book over and over again, yet from a new perspective, every single time.
