Iceland Airwaves 2010

A music festival in downtown Reykjavík where some of the world’s most exciting bands play alongside Icelandic artists!

Last year, me and my friend had a few days off work so we decided to fly to Reykjavík for the Iceland Airwaves 2010!

Reykjavík is a small and lovely city, which makes it perfect for a festival such as this: lots of venues in the downtown area plus different bands, it’s up to you to decide what you want to see and jump from one place to the next! Last year I saw concerts in a record shop, in small bars/cafés…

…big venues…

…a hairdresser…

…and even in a bookshop!!

This festival, which happens every year during the third week of October, is also a great way to meet lots of people, including the security guy from a local supermarket ‘10-11’ or a lawyer student who plays in a punk Christmas band! But I digress. My point is that Icelandic people are very nice, despite of what others might say and they speak English with the cutest accent! :)

But since you’re there, don’t just focus on the music. The Iceland Airwaves official website encourages you to “roll out of bed, hose the party remains out of your hair and hop on a bus. Before you can remember what you did the night before, you’re looking at geysers, waterfalls, lava fields – all the best that a volcanic island has to offer, including the world-famous Blue Lagoon, a favorite soaking spot of the international hung-over glitterati.”
